Your first podiatry visit

A few useful things to bring, and what an assessment usually involves.

Practitioner assessing a patient’s foot

Bring the shoes you wear

Your everyday shoes help a podiatrist understand how your feet are supported. Bring any insoles too, even if you no longer use them.

Make a short list

Think about what is uncomfortable, when you notice it and what you want to return to doing. Bring a current medicines list. Share health information during your appointment, rather than in an online enquiry.

Ask about your plan

A first visit is a chance to understand the findings and ask about options, costs and follow-up. No treatment should begin before it has been explained and agreed.
